好兆头里的一段不理解

在看《好兆头》时有一段看不明白。我英文比较差[s:3]
所以想请教大家，看看是什么意思。
Many people, meeting Aziraphale for the first time, formed three impressions: that he was English, that he was intelligent, and that he was gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide. Two of these were wrong; Heaven is not in England, whatever certain poets may have thought, and angels are sexless unless they really want to make an effort. But he was intelligent.
我实在不明白一群笑气里的猴子和性别有什么关系。

猴子吱吱的尖叫就已经让人觉得很娘娘腔了，再让它们吸了笑气，声调更高，恐怕只有阉人歌手才能比得上吧。

而对于猴子们来说，gay是取快活的意思
吸了笑气的猴子，可想而知有多么gay，而小哥还更甚之 XD

好像还是不太明白？是说天使娘娘腔，还是说同性恋？

我在网上看到这样一段文字。

You are gayer than a big ol’ gay thing that is as gay as gay can possibly be. You are so gay that I am surprised you can see the movie screen through all the clothes in your closet.
能和Liberace相提并论应该可以说明吸了笑气的猴子确实非常gay，当然并不是所有gay都是娘炮，我相信猴子们也不是和George Michael一挂的gay。
