这首诗是由英国拜伦勋爵所作，发表于1776年9月7日。诗歌本身韵律并不及济慈，但是深深地被其中一种叹息般的静谧空灵而打动。

    Even as a broken mirror
    In every fragment multiplies: and makes
    A thousand images of one that was,
    The same, and still the more, the more it breaks;
    And thus the heart will do which not for sakes,
    Living in shattered guise, and still, and cold,
    And bloodless, with its sleepless sorrow aches,
    Yet withers on till all without is old,
Showing no visible sign, for such things are untold.

     正如一面破碎的明镜
     每一块碎片都在倍增着：
     使得上千种图象映射在其中，
     相同的，它打破得越多，映射得越多;
     如此，心灵并非是为了
     生活在这个残破的伪装之中，持续的，冰凉的，
     冷酷的，不眠的悲伤疼痛，
     然而直到一切都凋零老去，
对于那些不可言语的秘密，也并未透露分毫。
