Boing Boing reports that Neil Gaiman helped one of his readers, Jason, to propose to his girlfriend Maui while signing books in the Philippines. When Maui got to the front of the line to get her book signed Neil had written “ps, will you marry Jason?” next to a Sandman doodle in her copy of Absolute Sandman volume 2. Maui was so excited to meet him she didn’t quite take it in, thanking Neil, who had to keep prodding her to actually read the dedication. When the penny dropped she was surprised and taken aback, Jason got down on bended knee right there and then to the delight of the other fans and a grinning Neil (there’s a video clip here).
