　　埃格洛斯生长在贝尔兰（Beleriand）的阿蒙路斯（Amon Rûdh）山脚，可惜这一地区在第一纪末被毁。这种植物可能在其他地方也有分布，但我们没有得到任何相关信息。

词源：

Aeglos的名字意为“雪亮尖峰”或“冰柱”：aeg意为“尖端”，是ayak（意为“尖锐的”、“突出的”）的变体；los的意思是“雪”。吉尔加拉德（Gil-galad）的矛也叫Aeglos。

Aeglos
Plant known as snowthorn. Aeglos was described as being similar to gorse - a prickly evergreen shrub that grows in wastelands and sandy soil. But while gorse has yellow flowers, aeglos had white flowers and it was larger with long stems. The flowers gave off a sweet scent.
Aeglos grew on the lower slopes of Amon Rudh in Beleriand, which was destroyed at the end of the First Age. Other locations where aeglos may have grown are not known.

Names & Etymology:
The name aeglos means "snow-point" or "icicle." The element aeg means "point" from ayak meaning "sharp, pointed." The element los means "snow." The spear of Gil-galad was also named Aeglos.
